He’s just not that into you and maybe you’re just not that into him. That still won’t stop Feb. 14 from surfacing on the calendar. Named for a Christian martyr who was executed in 270 A.D., Valentine’s Day has morphed into a Hallmark holiday that can make a woman feel bad about not having a boyfriend.

Everywhere you look this week, Valentine’s Day appears to be on steroids. It’s not even safe to go shopping right now. Hearts and cupids dangle from the ceiling of Target and arrows all over the store point toward cheesy stuffed gorillas holding hearts that read, “I’m ape over you.”

It’s just as bad at work. Those women with boyfriends or husbands will receive flowers or cookies, while their single cubiclemates will quietly seethe with envy. This is why some women resort to sending flowers and chocolates to themselves. Yes, guys, women do this.

Still, singles don’t have to spend the days leading up to the holiday crying into appletinis or feeling depressed about the lame selection on Match.com. And they certainly won’t feel the pressure of having to find the perfect card or endure a cello concert, ballet performance or any other miserable ordeal a significant other may subject them to on Valentine’s Day. Instead, they can celebrate their independence at one of the following events taking place this weekend.

• On Friday, Lucky Strike Lanes will host a singles party that will combine bowling and speed-dating. The Cupid.com event is only open to singles and costs $55 a person. Bowlers will receive a complimentary cocktail and get a chance to meet more than 70 other singles during a round-robin tournament. Additional drinks will cost $9. The cocktail party will begin at 7:30 p.m. Bowling starts at 8 p.m. Lucky Strike is located at 1691 Michigan Ave., Suite 115, in Miami Beach. Call 305-532-0307 or visit Bowlluckystrike.com.

• For $150, MySpa at the InterContinental Miami hotel offers a pampering package for two — bring a friend — that includes a manicure, pedicure, massage and skin treatment with complimentary champagne and strawberries in an ocean-view suite. The spa is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and services are available Friday through Sunday. The hotel is located at 100 Chopin Plaza in Miami. Call 305-577-1000 or visit Myspamiami.com.

• Slip into your favorite club wear and show some love to your BFFs by buying them a round of shots at the Socialite Valentine’s Day party Friday at Nocturnal nightclub. Progressive-house DJ Miss Jennifer will spin. Doors will open 10 p.m. at 50 N.E. 11th St., in Miami. Tickets cost $15 at Wantickets.com. Call 305-576-6996 or visit Nocturnalmiami.com.

• Even on Valentine’s Day, it’s possible to meet an interesting person to share a first kiss with. And the people who frequent Fort Lauderdale’s Voodoo Lounge are nothing if not interesting. On Saturday, the club will welcome house DJs Mike Miro, Brett Talley, Omar G, Duane Cedric and Ryan M. Doors will open at 10 p.m. at 111 S.W. Second Ave., Fort Lauderdale. Tickets cost $10 at Wantickets.com. Call 954-522-0733 or visit Voodooloungeflorida.com.

• It’s difficult to be in a bad mood at a Poplife party. On Saturday at Electric Pickle, Mira Aroyo, a DJ for the British electro group Ladytron, will spin at the long-running nightlife event’s Valentine’s weekend fiesta. Doors will open at 10 p.m. at 2826 N. Miami Ave., in Miami, Call 305-456-5613 or visit Electricpicklemiami.com. Tickets cost $10 at Wantickets.com.

• Don’t spend the night before Valentine’s Day cyberstalking your ex on Facebook. This Saturday, head to Opium for Cupid’s Kissing Booth, a party featuring Playboy Playmates Heather Rae Young and Jaime Edmondson. DJs Ideal and Sire will spin. The party will begin at 11 p.m. at 5729 Seminole Way, in Hollywood. Call 954-327-9094 or visit Opiumhardrock.com. Admission is $20.

• While you may not be able to track down a soulmate in 24 hours, there is still time to check out half-naked chicks at the Love RX party. Dancers from the Modernesque Burlesque troupe will strip away your loneliness one garment at a time. DJ duo Razmataz will supply music throughout the night. The show will begin at 10 p.m. Respectable Street is located at 518 Clematis St., in West Palm Beach. Call 561-832-9999 or visit Respectablestreet.com. Admission is $10.
