Celebrating the Super Bowl and Pro Bowl

With the Pro Bowl taking place this Sunday at Sun Life Stadium and the Super Bowl landing on the venue/corporate billboard Feb. 7, football fans will have no small number of ways to express their pigskin love this week and next. Below are several Super and Pro Bowl-related events scheduled between now and Sunday. We’ll post a full list of Super Bowl parties next week.

THURSDAY, JAN. 28

Art and Jazz on the Avenue
Tonight, this semi-regular event on Atlantic Avenue in downtown Delray Beach will feature meet-and-greets with NFL stars such as Reggie Givens, Lorenzo Hampton, James Pruitt and Lionel Dalton. A celebration of South Florida football also will be held, with Florida Atlantic University football coach Howard Schnellenberger, FAU players and their owl mascot, local high school athletes, and cheerleaders from the Miami Dolphins, FAU and area high schools. 6-10 p.m. Thursday. FRIDAY, JAN. 29

Super Art in the Park
Ketchy Shuby, Fourth Dimension, Jacob Jeffries Band and DJ Le Spam and the Spam Allstars will perform in the Super Bowl edition of this monthly concert series. Attractions will include autograph-signings, Super Bowl-themed activities and displays of sports memorabilia and art. The show will take place from 6 p.m. to midnight Friday at Fred B. Hartnett Ponce Circle Park, 2800 Ponce de Leon Blvd., in Coral Gables. Call 305-644-8888 or visit Artintheparkconcerts.com. Admission is free.

South Florida Fan Fest
This three-day event will feature a Sports Memorabilia and Card Show with 120 vendors, interactive games and activities, live music by DJ Smoove, Kristy Nicklas, DJ Epps and others, and autograph-signings by Santana Moss, Edgerrin James, Lorenzo White, Andre Rison and Marvin Jones. The festival will take place from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Miami Beach Convention Center at 1901 Convention Center Drive. Battle of the Beauties
Twenty-six NFL Pro Bowl cheerleaders will play tug-of-war, flag football and volleyball, and run an obstacle course created by local fire departments at this AFC vs. NFC competition judged, refereed and emceed by current and former NFL players. The cheerleaders also will perform dance routines, sign autographs and pose for photos with fans. The “battle” will take place from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday at Ocean Manor, 4040 Galt Ocean Drive, in Fort Lauderdale. A rooftop VIP gala will follow from 7 p.m. to midnight. SATURDAY, JAN. 30

Super Saturday in the Street
This six-hour extreme tailgating party will feature live music, food, NFL cheerleaders, autograph sessions with current and former NFL players and a tailgating challenge. It will begin noon Saturday between 19th and 21st avenues on Hollywood Boulevard in downtown Hollywood. Visit Downtownhollywood.com. Admission is free.
