Wednesday 17: House of Jackie Brown Fashion Show
Jacklyn York and Emily Brown were born in the early 1980s, and the decade of Lite-Brites, leg warmers and Trapper Keepers has inspired their swimsuit designs. Using a palette of colors comparable to Crayola’s 64-pack, York and Brown make monokinis and sexy one-piece suits in hot pink, metallic purple and heart prints with styles titled Material Girl and Karma Chameleon. At the pair’s fashion show tonight, DJs Konflikt and Damaged Goods will spin ’80s music with house and hip-hop mash-ups while runway models debut the brand’s latest collection, Jungle Juice.
Location: Mansion, 1235 Washington Ave., Miami Beach
Time: 11 p.m.
Cost: $20
Contact: 305-531-5535 or Mansionmiami.com

Thursday 18: Against Me!
This Gainesville-based punk act just got signed to play Bonnaroo in June — the music fest where more than 80,000 hipsters gather each summer in Tennessee to camp and hear artists such as Metallica and Pearl Jam. Against Me!, which has been touring consistently since it formed in 1997, is best known for its anti-Bush/Cheney tracks and harmonica-heavy anarchist tunes such as “Anna Is a Stool Pigeon,” which includes the lyrics, “Fashioned herself an anarchist/Eric fell in love with Anna at the meeting of the crime-think conference/He didn’t know it but Anna was an FBI informant.” In May 2008, Rolling Stone deemed Against Me! “Best Punk Band” on its list “The 125-Plus People, Places and Things Ruling the Rock ’n’ Roll Universe.”
Location: Culture Room, 3045 N. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale
Time: 7:30 p.m.
Cost: $12
Contact: 954-564-1074 or Cultureroom.net

Saturday 20: Monster Jam
Step 1: Slip on gun-range-level ear protection. Step 2: Crack open a Budweiser. Step 3: Prepare to witness a 12,000-pound truck fly over a hill and crush an RV. While Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian popped up at Sun Life Stadium for football games over the past few months, we’re fairly certain they won’t be in the stands Tweeting about Grave Digger (though we really think they should).
Location: Sun Life Stadium, 2269 Dan Marino Blvd., Miami
Time: 7:30 p.m.
Cost: $17-$35
Contact: 888-271-2269 or Monsterjam.com

Saturday 20: Hearing Damage, a.k.a. the Rat Opera
Subtitled Songs Inspired by the Life and Noise of Rat Bastard, the rock opera Hearing Damage will make its Broward County premiere after debuting this past October in Miami. Written by longtime South Florida musicians Brian Franklin and Rob Elba, the show speculates on the early life and romantic escapades of idiosyncratic noise artist Frank “Rat Bastard” Falestra while drawing from the writers’ own bizarre experiences with the man and his music. Tonight’s show will feature the Rat Opera Band and a cast that includes local musicians Todd Nolan, Jim Camacho, Diane Ward and Mr. Entertainment.
Location: Cinema Paradiso, 503 S.E. Sixth St., Fort Lauderdale
Time: 9 p.m.
Cost: $12
Contact: 954-760-9898 or Ratopera.com

Saturday 20: Jay-Z: The BP3 Tour
He may have “99 Problems” but a tour ain’t one. Last year, Jay-Z surpassed Elvis Presley as the solo artist with the most No. 1 records on Billboard’s Top 200 chart. Tonight, he’ll kick off his 2010 tour dates in Sunrise with rapper Young Jeezy and R&B singer Trey Songz. While Jay-Z recently scored a hit with Alicia Keys with “Empire State of Mind” and performed the song at Yankee Stadium during the World Series, his collaborations with Rihanna and Mariah Carey were also radio successes. All that, and he gets to go home to Beyoncé.
Location: BankAtlantic Center, 1 Panther Parkway, Sunrise
Time: 8 p.m.
Cost: $39.50-$129.50
Contact: 954-835-7000 or Bankatlanticcenter.com

Double your indie-pop fun with Tegan and Sara Quin in Boca Raton. The twin rockers have spent the past decade touring with musical acts such as Neil Young, the Killers, Weezer and Ryan Adams. Preferring to write songs separately on past albums, Tegan and Sara penned their 2009 release, Sainthood, together. Singing about romantic ideals and becoming martyrs for love, the angelic-voiced duo will leave you pining for an unrequited love all over again.
Location: Sunset Cove Amphitheater, 12551 Glades Road, Boca Raton
Time: 7:30 p.m.
